My Big Fat Greek Wedding

The film My Big Fat Greek Wedding was let out onto the screens in 2002 and is a romantic comedy with a Greek twist. The film is centered around the main character Toula. The film opens in a dreary rainy setting but quickly takes a turn. The film is directed by Joel Zwick, and produced by Tom Hanks, Gary Goetzman and Rita Wilson. The film has a range of actors starring from John Corbett, Lanine Kazan, Micheal Constatanine and also Nia Vardalos who also wrote the script.

The reason why I looked at this film is because it had the main concept that I was looking for in my opening, of the daughter trying to push away and break free from her parents traditional views and rules. Such as her marrying a non orthodox Greek who on top of it all is vegetarian, which breaks all there culture and traditions.

I found the film interesting as it allowed me to see the different styles in which different cultures mixing could be shown to the audience and it allowed me to see if I would want to focus and lean towards more the romance of mixing cultures and wether I would like to have mixed the Western culture with the traditional Greek Orthodox culture.
