The opening of Bend it like Beckham is established as a large animated football flies across the black screen, this not only establishes that the film is beginning but also catches the viewers attention.
Sound is also brought in to the film through the movement of the football across the screen. As the ball flies across the sound of a cheering and whistling from a crowd is played. The noise of cheers is slowly played in the background of what is meant to be a commentator all in the back of the opening of the film.
The background of the opening title sequence is a plain black background, with a hena coloured looking writing, which ties in with the Asian twist of the film, this also allows the viewer all the production teams and companies were involved in the production.
The viewer is easily able to establish, between the title scene and opening scene of the film, as just as done in the opening another animated football flies across.
